Vinous Antonio Galloni - 18 Oct 22
The 2018 Barolo Ravera di Monforte is another attractive wine in this range from Piero Benevelli. It is the most accessible of the wines and also the Barolo that is most likely to drink well first. Bright red-fleshed fruit, iron, white pepper, mint, orange peel, spice and dried flowers add layers of aromatic presence. There's certainly plenty to look forward to, especially if the tannins soften a touch from here.

Barolo

Barolo, the "King of Wines," is a prestigious red from Piedmont, Italy, made exclusively from Nebbiolo grapes. Known for deep complexity, Barolo offers rich flavours of dark cherries, roses, truffles, and spices, with high acidity and firm tannins. It ages exceptionally well, evolving in depth and nuance. Barolo's diverse terroirs create a range of styles, from powerful to delicate. Top producers include Gaja, Bruno Giacosa, Giuseppe Rinaldi, and Marchesi di Barolo, all of whom exemplify Barolo's tradition and quality.
